Alexa Meade is a a fascinating artist who explores the concept of depth and 3D versus 2D in her artwork by painting on top of real people and objects. By applying harsh lines, textured brushstrokes, and using colors as they exist Meade is able to deconstruct a live 3D image into a 2D work of art that tricks the eyes into that that it was simply painted on canvas and not on life. This is a technique which I had never seen before and I may have never discovered it if I had not have gotten on Instagram one day and went to an art promotion web page. The vivid colors which she uses and the contrast she creates is lovely. I also admire the fact that her artwork is somewhat final after she takes the picture because there is no way to create the exact same image, thus making it a one shot thing.
